Our friendly, knowledgeable staff provide personal
counseling for anyone interested in buying a home,
regardless of income or where you want to live.
Comprehensive Homebuyer Education
Get the home you want at a price you can afford by
learning how to work with the full range of homebuying
professionals.
This course takes you through the steps that give
you the practical skills and real information you
need before you make the most important purchase of
your life.
Our classes are taught by bankers, realtors, inspectors,
credit professionals, attorneys and NHS staff.

Since 1995, NHS has successfully trained 2,163 potential
homebuyers.
Financial
Fitness Classes
A 12-hour workshop held monthly for 4 consecutive
weeks. This class is an integral component of the
Greater New Orleans Individual Development Account
criteria and must be completed before any funds are
matched and disbursed.
The workshop will:

Provide tools, training and expectations for
participants to undertand and employ core
financial concepts and terms and gain awareness
of more advanced financial concepts.
- Encourage
participants to take control of and assume
ultimate responsibility for their financial
lives and to develope a pattern of regular
savings as a means toward financial asset
building and as an exercise in personal growth
and change.
- Creative
a safe, sipportive atmosphere, respectful
workshop environment and foster ongoing peer
support.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able
to:
- Understand
their credit and know how to protect it in
the future.
- Maximize
their income and reduce debt while building
a good credit history.
- Set
priorities and inderstand the difference between
"needs/wants" with limited or reduced
resources.
- Become
more aware of how spending patterns are affected
by personal values and/or goals.
- Understand
the importance of the budgeting process and
its role in your decision-making process.

Fees
$35 for below 80% median family income; $50 for above
80% median family income (see chart).
This fee covers attendance for all members of a household.
All classes are held at the NHS offices at 4700 Freret
Street, New Orleans.
Space in all classes is limited; pre-registration is
necessary.
