Position: Community Organizer
Description:
Will develop and implement programming at the 7th Ward
Neighborhood Center run by Neighborhood Housing Services
of New Orleans, Inc.
Qualifications
Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree or
equivalent experience and knowledge in the area of community
development. Applicant must have experience working
with residents at the neighborhood level. Applicant
must demonstrate knowledge of community organizing and
youth development as well as a commitment to supporting
arts and cultural activities and homeownership. Applicant
must have desire to work on resident-driven activities
to improve the quality of life in communities. The following

Responsibilities

Assist
the Center Director and staff in the development
and implementation of programming which serves
the needs of the community, including surveying
and community mapping
Provide staff support for the Center advisory
council
Foster relationships with neighborhood residents
and local stakeholders to enhance the development
of the Center
Help to develop and maintain a schedule for the
usage of Center internal and external spaces
Assist in development of ongoing community organizing
activities to build healthy relationships with
residents and develop community leadership
Manage volunteers and train resident leaders
Recruit community members into activities and
motivate neighborhood involvement
Develop and manage summertime activities for children
and youth
Report activities regularly to Center Director
and Center advisory council
Assist in general Center maintenance |
