NHS works in partnership with local lending institutions in New Orleans to provide mortgages for our homeownership program. The lenders have developed programs that assist first-time homebuyers purchase homes in New Orleans.  Participating lenders provide first mortgage financing at market rate with reduced closing costs.

With Ownership Wealth (WOW) – Congressional Black Caucus Homeownership Initiative – NHS is one of two homeownership organizations supporting this effort.
IDA Collaborative of Louisiana – in 2003 NHS had 96 families enrolled in the IDA program and 22 had purchased homes.
New Orleans Thrift Consortium – eight savings and loan institutions have invested a minimum of $50,000 each into a loan pool to provide second mortgage loans.
NOPD and NOFD homeownership initiative – NHS is one of two counseling agencies supporting this effort.
Anti-Predatory Lending Campaign – NHS is working in partnership with the Fair Housing Center, Fannie Mae and Hibernia National Bank to raise public awareness and help families in predatory situations.
WYLD Sunday Morning Journal – NHS has a monthly segment on housing issues.
Weatherization Rehab Program (WRAP) – NHS was selected by the Ford Foundation to be one of 14 national sites to pilot a program to combine energy efficiency improvements with renovations for low and moderate income families.
