Home : Home Ownership Center : Buying A Home : Step 1 - Attend an Orientation Session
Orientation
The Orientation Session is the first step in accessing all of NHS' programs and resources. During the orientation, we provide detailed information on the organization and the services that we provide. We also explain what you can expect to encounter as you come through our program and answer any program-related questions that you might have.

At the Orientation Session, you must provide us with a completed assessment packet. This packet contains the following information:

• A completed Personal Profile Form,
• Proof of annual income: previous two years' federal tax returns with W-2 forms
• Proof of current income: three recent pay stubs
• Credit report fee (see profile checklist for exact amount)
• Photo identification card (current driver's license, state issued i.d. or military identification card)

The Personal Profile Form includes a checklist that provides details of this information as well as the current credit report fees.

The information you provide to us in the assessment packet is the same information that you would submit to a lender when you apply for a mortgage. This information will help us to assess your mortgage-readiness, develop an action plan to help you prepare for your goal of homeownership and determine your eligibility for special first-time homebuyer incentives.
