Revitalizing Community Working with neighbors and community groups, we encourage creating a shared vision of a neighborhood for all of us through the Fight the Blight Property Campaign, Night Out Against Crime block parties, Design Corps projects, beautification projects, and support for the monthly Freret Market, the neighborhood association, Neighbors United, and The New Freret, the Business and Property Owners Association. As part of the Freret Neighborhood Partnership, we work with city agencies to increase economic opportunities along the historic business corridor and work with funding requests for recovery efforts. The Freret Neighborhood Center also works to educate neighbors about the array of resources and educational opportunities offered by Neighborhood Housing Services and looks for ways for encourage more people to take steps toward homeownership and building long-term wealth. Neighborhood pride takes many forms; it all starts with the work of each of us. |
